Yeah, it has been a wee bit since I last popped on here last. I have just been mentally exhausted from the passing of my papaw. He was very good man. Interesting sidebar that was brought up at the funeral: My grandma passed Aug 13, 2011, papaw passed Aug 14, 2015 and both funerals were held on the same day fours years apart.
Cycles and connections....
I had orginally planned to drive up to Cincy to take my newly turned 6 year old niece out for a special birthday lunch on that Saturday. Papaw passed Friday evening, so I just asked if I could stay in Cincy til thursday. I did not see the bother of going up, coming back and going back up a few days later. Besides, it gave me the chance to hang out with family and friends and catch up.
Gwenie Goops (yes, its a nickname lol) was born on Aug 13th. The day she was born, we were burying my mom's mother, Grandma Lena. (the cycle of death and birth) Grandma BeBout passed a years later on Aug 13th. My mom's father, Grandpa Doris also passed on Aug 13th a year later. Papaw B passed Aug 14th, but started his next journey on Aug 13th. It is for these coincidences that poor Gwen got saddled with the family nickname The Grim Reaper of Death. She is the nicest, sweetest, goofiest kid in the world and if she ever knew she would be heart broken and probably would not really understand at her young age. My family has a weird off colour sense of humour at times that most people just don't get and the few that do are wonderful friends and adopted into our family. Nothing is done maliciously and we are an ornery lovingly bunch who like to have fun and poke fun at each other.
Cycles and connections....
The Buddha said, "“All things appear and disappear because of the concurrence of causes and conditions. Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else.”
So be aware and on watch for those cycles and connections, even the smallest tiniest most abstract things have importance and can lead to other people, adventures, experiences and things that you never dreamed of.
Interconnctedness....
I leave you with a few pics of my papaw...he is still very much on my mind

Papaw was proud of his military service and his Legion of Honor medal

I came across this photo in a used bookstore several years ago. I immediately recognized my papaw singing along. It is from the Time Life book series on WW2.

Close up of him singing
