Authentic Christianity by Peter E Watts is a face to the mirror read. The first few pages in I began to think that this book should be part of any church book club or spiritual formation group and at the end of chapter one there was a discussion guide with very thought-provoking questions. Each chapter is set up like that. The book is an easy read, but the topics are sooooooo deep. One needs to read a chapter and sit with it for a bit, maybe a week and put into practice the lesson before going onto the next chapter.

Watts dissects what blocks us from authentic Christianity: ourselves, work, church, our relationships with others, the world outside the church. The main take a ways for me were transparency, humility and honesty.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the author and/or publisher through the Speakeasy blogging book review network. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR,Part 255
