This book caught my eye for a few reasons, Richard Rohr wrote the foreward and I have read several of his books and I am also gay, Christian and have been on a spiritual journey all my life it seems. I found the book to be like a workbook, where at the end of the chapter there are Questions, Suggestions, Exercises and a Prayer. This book is a 2006 translation from the original in 2002 in German, but does not feel dated at all and in fact seems timeless. One should really sit with a chapter and contemplate before moving on. I suggest taking a chapter a week. One really needs to sit and put into practice the chapter before moving onto another. Urs Mattmann tries and succeeds at bringing mysticism and contemplative thought to those in the LGBTQ community who are or want to begin a spiritual practice and who are reconciling with who they are. The tools he provides can be used by anyone and everyone’s spiritual path and growth is different. I am going to continue to use what I learned as part of my toolbox. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the author and/or publisher through the Speakeasy blogging book review network. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
